Our Family Story
Nieves Jimenez has been around for over 60 years! It all started in Mexico, when Sado Jimenez had gone over to Rio Grande, Oaxaca in 1960. There he learned how to make melon ice cream, he was so excited to take this back to his hometown Ayoquezco de Aldama. No one in his town knew how to make ice cream. From there he would make ice cream all the time and sell it. When his son Alfredo Jimenez was seven years old he started to make ice cream with Sado. He later on took over the business and experimented with new flavors, such as Leche quemada, Limon, Fresas con crema, nuez and so much more! He wanted to expand the business so he started to go to different towns where they would have carnivals and sell the ice cream. Later on when Alfredo's son, Neftalí Jimenez, was eleven he started to go along with Alfredo and help him sell.Alfredo then taught Neftalí how to make ice cream. When Neftalí came to Yakima,Washington he knew many people that would enjoy the ice cream him and his family would make back in their hometown. People started to contact Neftali asking if he could make ice cream for their parties. And every since then our business has grown so much! Neftalí's kids and nieces/ nephews will be the fourth generation to carry this amazing tradition on!
